The fruit for the wines was sourced from a range of premium McLaren Vale vineyards. Many of these vineyards are extremely low yielding, are minimally irrigated, and produce fruit with an abundance of varietal character. Some of the parcels of fruit have been sourced from local bush vines which are approximately eighty years of age.
The concept behind the logo of “La Curio Wines” is the image of a unique pair of Harry Houdini’s manacles. Houdini often used this figure of eight handcuffs to perplex and challenge his competitors, the original now being held in the Houdini collection of a Mr. Sid Radner.
These wines are the products of judicious fruit sourcing, are traditionally hand plunged and basket pressed, and are groomed in quality oak for a period of 18 months .

The Wine Advocate
2009 Reserve Shiraz has a deep garnet-purple color and intense earthy, damp loam and black truffles aromas over a core of ripe blackberries and black currant, warm plums, cinnamon, cloves and aniseed. Full bodied with medium-firm grainy tannins, good concentration and high acidity, it finishes long and earthy. Drink this one now to 2016+.
